"Out Of The Ashes" the second book of the "Into the Fire" series is a wonderful read. It picks up right where the first book's cliff hanger leaves you with Cara Tillman rising from the ashes after her rebirth and second life as a Phoenix. However, with her rebirth she has lost her memory; even those of Logan Schmidt, her true love.Additional hunters are looking for Cara and the other Phoenixes to kill them and steal their essence. Clara struggles to regain her lost memories and Logan isn't willing to give up on their relationship despite interesting twists and turns in their relationship.
The book is full of mystery and intrigue as the Phoenixes quibble with each other in their search for the hunters. Meanwhile, the hunters are killing and closing in on the Phoenixes.
I found "Out Of The Ashes" even more exciting to read than the first book and I'm looking forward to the third book in the series. So, if you enjoy reading young adult paranormal books, then you will want to add this series to your must read list.

Despite Book 2 beginning where book 1 leaves off, everything's changed now that Cara has died and gone through the rebirth by rising out of her own ashes! Logan is in an incriminating position, and yet he's lost a personal momento that has significant meaning for him. The only thing Cara remembers is her safe contact, the person who will help her find her way back to her family. This beginning is just the spark that starts off everything all over again, like a reset button for the heart. And let me tell you it's flaming hot! As if book 1 wasn't an amazing read, book 2 is EVEN BETTER.
Stakes are raised and the heat rises for book 2, with an emphasis on Logan this time around. Hashway does an amazing job of running a parallel storyline framework in book 2 from Logan's perspective this time around that will keep you turning pages all the way to an ending even more intense than book 1. It's an interesting synergy In a way akin to the memory loss of a phoenix rebirth, the reader will find himself or herself in a kind of deja vu timewarp where Cara and Logan get to experience falling in love, all over again, yet everything's changed. It's the same, yet different. Everything you loved about book one, only better and more intense.
I loved the depth of the imprinting storyline, and how this draws out a connection for Cara and her mother, Mrs. Tillman. I liked how Logan's character is more developed, and his role near the end is a great twist that makes my crazy just thinking I'll have to wait for book 3. Just you wait until book 3.
A scorching read, and must read series. This one's scalding hot!
Out of the Ashes is the second book in the young adult fantasy series, Into the Fire by Kally Hashway. I read and reviewed the first book in 2014, when the series was under one of Kelly’s pseudonyms. She has since moved the books under her main author name and has given the series a cover face lift. I love the new covers a lot more than the old ones, so I am happy with the change. If you recall my review of the first book, you will remember that I loved the idea of a book centering around the magical creature, the pheonix. I still do.
A lot of the first book dealt with the “before” and worries of the main character, Cara’s rebirth. Cara was scared that she would forget her her first love Logan once she was reborn. The book ended on a big cliffhanger, and book two picks up right where the first one left off. You need to read this series in order, or you will be completely lost. I have to say, Out of the Ashes started off with an emotional bang. I was immediately swept right up in everything that was going on. Even though it had been about a year and a half since I read the first book, I was transported right back to that time seamlessly. It was like I had never left.
I loved that this book was told in dual narrative between Logan and Cara even more than I loved it in the first book. I think it was so fitting. And I don’t know who I felt worse for- Cara or Logan. I really don’t want to spoil anything from book two so I am going to keep this part short and sweet. Kelly Hashway does an excellent job keeping the pace of the book up and keeping emotions running high throughout. I was in a whirlwind of emotion from every character, all the time. The Hunters are still out there and they pose an even bigger looming threat. How will Cara and Logan handle everything? Will they be able to be together once again? Or is it too much to surpass after her rebirth. Out of the Ashes hits the ground running and never lets up. I liked this book even more than the first one, and that is really saying something. What a great fantasy series. I can’t wait for book three!
